ESL teachers - permission and prohibition
"As kids we do what we ought to do, what we're forced to do,
what we're taught to do.
We think what we're required to think, what we're made to think,
not inspired to think.
We say what we're expected to say, conditioned to say,
very rarely what we've elected to say.
We are what we are supposed to be, what we're told to be
and seldom what we've chosen to be.
We do what we should, not what we would if we could."
